Banco de Crédito de Bolivia (BCP)

Project: Dematerialization System for Fixed Term Deposits (FTD)

The Banco de Crédito de Bolivia S.A. is a 100% subsidiary company of Banco de Crédito BCP that operates in Peru since 1941. BCP began its operations in Bolivia in 1994.

To comply with a regulatory change, the BCP found it necessary to contract the development of a computer system that would allow it to “dematerialize” Fixed Term Deposits (FTD).

The Securities Entity (SE) is an institution that was created to record dematerialized securities in its accounts. The objective is to allow the bank's clients to negotiate with the electronic version of their FTD on the Bolivian Stock Exchange.

Through a business partner specialized in the field, a contribution was made to create a computer system that passed the bank's demanding quality process and met all corporate requirements in terms of documentation, end user and technical training, and a systems audit.

Before

  • In accordance with a regulatory change, the Securities Entity (SE) signed an agreement with the BCP to be a depository of dematerialized securities.
  • By virtue of this agreement, the bank is obliged to attend to requests for the dematerialization of FTD by its clients.

After

A FTD Dematerialization System was developed composed of the following modules:

  • A Web application that manages client’s requests.
  • A Windows application that oversees the interface between the BCP and the SE, through XML files, for the communication of transactions on dematerialized FTD.
  • A Console application that runs daily and oversees processing the transactions that affect the FTD as well as carrying out the accounting reclassification of capital and interest.
